Peck House is a long vacant commercial building located in Rotherham. It was the headquarters of Joseph Peck departments stores, which dates back to the late 1800s and had many branches in South Yorkshire. The Rotherham site served as a department store, office, administration and distribution centre.
Peck House was taken over in the 1960s by Backer Electric, who manufacture heating elements and supply products in high volume to the majority of household brand names. They used the site until they moved premesis to the adjacent lot across the street in the mid 80s.
Options to reuse the vacant Peck House and the site were investigated for a number of years. In 1985, plans came forward to change of use of the retail/wholesale store to a church, but these fell though. In 2004, outline plans were submitted for a development including a hotel, restaurant, takeaway and petrol station, but these also ultimately didn’t come about. In 2012, a petition of 60 signatures was received by Rotherham Council from businesses on Eastwood Trading Estate relating to the poor condition of Peck House. As of 2022, the site remains a derelict eyesore destined for demolition.

We decided to quick explore at Peck House in Rotherham!
Very easy access to this one if you know where to look at, and inside was certainly showing the effects of years of abandonment.
Plant life is growing throughout the building, water is leaking through the gaping holes in the roof, and glass from all the smashed windows litters on floor. However, lots of crate boxes piles anywhere, unsafe to upstair due fire damage of 2nd floor seem not safe to enter.
