The site have now been demolished.
Plans to build 120 new homes on the site.
Rotherham Bus Depot was built in the 1980s. The 212,000 sq ft, 132 metre site, which was operated by FirstBus, provided parking accommodation, servicing and maintenance facilities for buses, as well as offices, and facilities for staff and drivers, such as locker space and a large canteen.
At its peak, the depot consisted of 230 drivers at the wheel of 80 vehicles.
In 2016, First announced that the depot was too large for its operational needs, and it was becoming increasingly uneconomical to use the site. They proposed full closure of the depot, and the relocation of operations to the Olive Grove depot in Sheffield.
FirstBus moved out of the Rotherham depot in February 2017, and the site completely closed. Since its closure, the site has been costing £160,000 per year for security, insurance and other rates. It has previously been used for police firearms training and Covid testing, but since 2020 it has remained cometely unused. In March 2022, plans to demolish the building were discussed at a meeting of the Mayoral Combined Authority Board.

We thought better do the abandoned of Rotherham Bus Depot before demolish.
Very easy access to this one, and once inside its a huge, open space that will take a decent explorer a good couple of hours to fully navigate. All left behind was cool to see. Sadly, there were no abandoned buses to see. A very fun & brilliant few hours spent to explore!
